 | The Norfolk and Suffolk
Broads is a unique area of water, grazing marshes, fen and woodland, and home
to some of the rarest plants and creatures in the UK. It is Britain's largest
protected wetland, having similar status to a national park. |
 | The Broads Authority
was set up in 1989 to conserve and enhance the natural beauty of the Broads,
promote the enjoyment of the Broads and protect the interests of navigation. |
 | The potential for
recreation on land and water in the Broads is immense. Sailing, motor boating,
rowing, canoeing, fishing, walking, sight-seeing and bird watching are just
some of the ways people enjoy the area. |
 | The Broads Authority
promotes 'quiet enjoyment' and sustainable tourism: recreation that does no
lasting damage to the Broads environment, or to other people's enjoyment of
it. |

The Broads Authority hosts
the 'Fun in the Broads' events programe every year. It's packed with exciting
and interesting things to do from May to December. Events include puppet shows,
storytelling, walks, sailing, canoeing and the chance to sail on a Norfolk
wherry.
